Brown Crab

The brown crab, also known as the ‘edible crab’ is one of the UK's most recognisable Crustacea. They are found all over the north western Atlantic Ocean, Norway -Portugal, including the Mediterranean Sea.

Brown crabs are opportunistic predators and scavengers, feeding on shellfish, worms and smaller crustaceans, which they crush with their strong claws. Slow-growing and long-lived, they can survive for 20 years or more, playing an important role in coastal ecosystems.
